Anne Beiser Allen has been writing for most of her life. Not counting work or school related items, her first published work as an adult was a poem, “Tumbleweed,” that appeared in the 1983 edition of the Iowa Poetry Association’s annual anthology, “Lyrical Iowa.” Her primary area of interest is history and biography, although poetry is a close second. She has had numerous articles published over the past thirty years, one of which earned the Iowa Historical Society’s annual Throne/Aldrich Award for best article published by the society that year. She has also had seven books published, and her poetry regularly takes prizes in contests run by the League of Minnesota Poets. In recent years, she has been trying to get a handle on writing successful fiction, and while she’s had a couple of stories published, there is still a lot of room for improvement.
When not writing, Anne loves to travel with her husband and to spend time with her five children and six grandchildren. She also knits and takes photographs from time to time.
