Writer’s Mail
January 24, 2014
“Wind Chill” Edition
“Every single day, I get emails from aspiring writers asking my advice about how to become a writer, and here is the only advice I can give: Don’t make stuff because you want to make money — it will never make you enough money. And don’t make stuff because you want to get famous — because you will never feel famous enough. Make gifts for people — and work hard on making those gifts in the hope that those people will notice and like the gifts.” – John Green, author of The Fault in Our Stars, TIME’s #1 fiction book of the year.

Still time to get in on the CCW contests . . .
The Council for Wisconsin Writers every year sponsors contests for best novel, best nonfiction book, best book of poetry, best children’s book, best short fiction, and best short nonfiction published in the previous year. You now can enter with your 2013 novel or short story or collection of poems – whatever gits the CWW’s categories – and you can do so even if you are an indie author – self published – and even if you’ve only published an e-book.
Go to the Council’s website, http://www.wiswriters.org/ , for the rules and the entry forms. Get onto it now because the deadline for entering is January 31.
